Music by Paul Manley

This is a collection of tunes composed by me.
The instruments used were 6 string acoustic and electric guitar, mostly acoustic. 12 string, 6 string classical, Resonator, slide guitar on 6 string and 12 string, harmonica on the track 'Beverly Hills Blues', keyboards on 'Lonesome Joe' and bass guitar on 'Love hurts'.

Because there are so many tracks I have organised them by instrument and style. I used my programming skills to create this database linked music player, I couldn't find anything like it so I made one instead!
The first page has all tracks listed. At the top of the page are the buttons with keywords, just click on one to filter the tracks.

At the top of the music player there is a tab which says 'Track Info Click Me'. This will tell you much more about each track.

All compositions are of my own creation. Some are 'in the style of' tunes you may recognise like 'When I am 49' which was based on 'When I am 64' by the Beatles.
They are sad, happy, jazzy, scary, rock, gentle, pretty and hopefully entertaining. More finger picking than you can shake a stick at with showers of notes tumbling out.

Sometimes it sounds like 2 guitars because of my finger picking style. 95% of the recordings had no overdubs and were recorded as a live performance. 'Belly Danza' for example was performed in one take with no plan, just feelings, wild and impatient.
There are some Electronica synth type experiments and one 'Audioscape' called 'Lonesome Joe' which was great fun to create and depicts isolation and dejection. Disillusionment as personified by the noisy crowd oblivious to the band in the background. Joe leaves the music filled bar and trudges on and on through the thunder of a dark night continuing his lonely quest for a quieter humanity both within and without him.

This is the produce of 57 years of messing around on a guitar. The track '17' for example was created when I was 17 years old.
There are different styles ranging from country to middle eastern and beyond. There are two protest tunes 'Bhagdad Birdsong' and 'Syria' about the arrogance and worthless brutality of war.
